My Life Story app receives funding
A new reminiscence app designed by and for people living with dementia is among the recipients of a $3 million Government fund to help disabled people around New Zealand stay connected and access support in their communities.
Alister Robertson, who is living with dementia, will now work with developers to create My Life Story, an app for making and viewing a life story book.
Users will be able to upload photographs, words, voice recordings, pictures, videos and music. While the app is being developed for people living with dementia, it can be used by anyone to create a digital record of their life story.
Alister has long been a passionate and committed advocate for people living with dementia. He is a member of the Alzheimers NZ Board and Advisory Group, and Chair of Dementia Alliance International.
“I am really happy to start work on My Life Story. Reminiscence has been shown to improve the quality of life for people with dementia and their caregivers, preserving precious memories and bringing stories to life.”
