The time to get ahead has passed – ask your burning questions at pre-election panel
The time for New Zealand to get ahead of the dementia challenge has passed, so now’s the time for you to put your burning questions about their plans to the political parties.
Our pre-election panel is on Tuesday 1 September from 6pm in Wellington and online to mark the start of World Alzheimers Month – we hope you can join us! Doors will open from 5pm for light refreshments.
We’ve invited current health party spokespeople to be part of the panel and five parties have accepted the invitation to participate. The panel will be facilitated by former Alzheimers NZ Chief Executive Catherine Hall.
Catherine and kaitiaki partner Matthew Croucher discussed the importance of getting action from the incoming Government on this recent podcast, and the need to get the decision-makers on board.
“As you would’ve heard on the podcast we’ve already done a lot as a sector, but the time to get ahead has passed and the government is playing catch-up,” says Alzheimers NZ Board Member Clare Hynd.
“It’s more important than ever to have your voice heard in the lead-up to the 2026 General Election, and our pre-election political panel is one way you can do that.
“I urge you to bring your burning questions along and help bring home for politicians why this is an increasingly urgent issue.”
