Community invited to consultation for KORA project to support dementia workforce Post Cover Image

Leaders, practitioners, people with lived experience and others with relevant expertise are invited to share their experiences to help shape the KORA project in the coming months.

The KORA (Knowledge, Outcomes, Reflection, Action) project is funded by the Workforce Futures Fund, Tahua Rāngaimahi Anamata.

It is about developing a novel technology to support the dementia workforce, alongside strengthening practice in two key areas where common challenges and opportunities exist: Stress and Distress and Enablement.

We are working with academic and sector experts to build knowledge and competency frameworks. Our aim to review the evidence and work with our communities to define what good looks like.

The project will involve developing work products and tools to help our workforce embed these practices into their organisations, strengthening workforce capability, informing national qualifications, and improving outcomes for people living with dementia mate wareware and their whānau.

“We’re excited to bring together research, practice, lived experience and sector expertise to create lasting impact beyond KORA,” says Alzheimers NZ Dementia Learning Centre Director Caroline Bartle.

“We hope these frameworks will benefit at least 27,000 people in dementia care and support roles and contribute to national standards well beyond the life of the project.”

To reflect current evidence, practical experience, and sector priorities, we’re seeking input from leaders, practitioners, people with lived experience and others with relevant expertise.

If you’d like to take part, participation involves two online sessions per workstream, a two-hour consultation session and a shorter follow-up review session.

The sessions will be held:

  • Stress and distress: 8 September, 11am – 1pm and 13 October, 11am – 12pm
  • Enablement: 5 November 1 – 3pm and 4 December, 1pm – 2pm

Please reach out to GraceDLC@alzheimers.org.nz ASAP if you’re available and would like to take part in the consultation process.
