While we’ve already announced some great speakers, we’re delighted to share Associate Minister of Health Hon Casy Costello will open the event.

Dr Ngaire Kerse will launch the World Alzheimer Report 2024 on global attitudes to dementia mate wareware. She’ll join Office for Seniors Director Diane Turner on what we know about older people as part of the research session.

For an insight into human rights and lived experience, Aged Care Commissioner Carolyn Cooper will present on an integrated continuum of care, and Milou Barrett and whānau will share their experience of Young Onset Dementia.

The Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan is the third kaupapa of the day, and we still have a few more exciting presentations to add to those we’ve already announced!

The event will be held on Tuesday 24 September 2024 at National Library of New Zealand, Wellington and online – during World Alzheimers Month. Please note the updated start time of 8.45am.

Alzheimers NZ Chief Executive Catherine Hall says the day will bring together the different threads of the sector, and encourages everybody who is interested to join.

“When we bring research, human rights and lived experience and the Action Plan together, we acknowledge the importance of the different roles in the sector. However, we can see that we’re all ultimately working to support people and their whānau living with dementia mate wareware,” she says.

“There’s already a lot of important mahi (work) underway, but we want to know What’s next? for the sector, from Government, for research, in education and most importantly for people and their whānau!”

Please note if you have signed up for any other Repositioning Dementia event, you will still need to register for this event for access.
