The event will be held on Tuesday 24 September 2024 at Tiakiwai Conference Centre (part of the National Library of New Zealand), Wellington and online – during World Alzheimers Month.

This is the final event in the one-day series by Alzheimers NZ, and will continue to focus on our three kaupapa of the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan, research and the lived experience of dementia mate wareware!

There will be a great line-up of sector experts on the day, and so far we’re pleased to confirm Dr. Susanne Röhr,  Dr Etu Ma’u and Kamanie Silochan will join us. Health NZ Te Whatu Ora Director Ageing Well National Commissioning Andy Inder will present on the current aged care review.

We’ll launch the World Alzheimer Report, announce the Alzheimers NZ 2024 Fellowship and hear from the Alzheimers NZ Lived Experience Advisory Group. We’ve also invited Associate Minister of Health Hon Casey Costello and will share more details soon.

Alzheimers NZ Chief Executive Catherine Hall says since the events started early last year, there have been significant steps in drug research, calls from Government agencies for change to the health system and an increased focus on education and support.

She encourages the sector to join the day to explore what the future may hold.

“While it’s great to see some progress for dementia mate wareware, we still need to band together to encourage Government to fully fund and implement the sector-driven Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan.

“So we want to know What’s next? for the sector, from Government, for research, in education and most importantly for people and their whānau living with dementia mate wareware!”

Please note if you have signed up for any other Repositioning Dementia event, you will still need to register for this event for access.
