Lock the dates in your calendars for the most innovative Alzheimers NZ conference so far!

Beyond the story: Reshaping dementia support will bring together leading voices from across the sector to share ideas, spark conversations and help shape a better future. Grounded in lived experience, it will be a powerful moment for connection, learning and impact.

“We have our kaupapa of the Dementia Mate Wareware Action Plan, services and innovations and workforce so there will be something for everyone,” says Chief Executive Catherine Hall.

“We’re delighted Associate Minister of Health Hon Casey Costello has already confirmed she’ll open the conference – as she has for the last three years.

“We’ll have a few breakout sessions including a professional development workshop and host a lively panel that looks beyond dementia mate wareware in Aotearoa New Zealand today into what’s possible.”

Marking World Alzheimers Month, the conference is a timely lead up to the 2026 General Election and an opportunity for you to join us as we celebrate our 40th birthday.

The conference will be held on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September in Auckland and online . This follows the pre-election political panel to be held in Wellington and online on Tuesday 1 September.

“We have a longstanding history of successful events over the last 40 years and this will be no different,” says Catherine.

“Expect the latest breaking news and find out Government’s plans, a working session on the challenges of strengths-based services and a focus on the ongoing challenges facing the workforce. We’ll see you there!”
