Volunteering opportunities
There is a wide range of volunteering opportunities to suit your individual time commitments and there is training and education provided

Befriender
Be a volunteer friend for someone 1:1
Befriender volunteers provide regular contact through phone calls and home visits to enjoy a friendly cuppa and chat.
This service provides socialisation and respite opportunities for both the person with dementia and their care partners.
Befriender volunteers are placed in a Companion or Social Group situation first while attending required training before being matched with a client.

Social and Companion Groups
Help out in a group activity setting
Our social groups provide people with dementia an opportunity to stay connected and participate in familiar activities in a safe and supportive environment.
These are run weekly, fortnightly and monthly.

Cognitive Stimulation Therapy
Co-facilitate our specialised groups
CST is a non-pharmacological therapy to improve memory and quality of life for people with dementia. The programme is structured over 14 sessions, twice weekly.

Cogs Cafe
Continue the CST in a more relaxed setting
Cogs café is our CST maintenance group. It is a weekly activity programme following the key principles of CST.
The group provides a fun, supportive environment where people can build friendships.

Fundraising
Do you have 2 hours spare twice a year?
Fundraising is a crucial part of our work – without fundraising we could not run our free services to our clients and their families.
Our appeals run in May and September. All you need is a smile and two hours spare!

Walking Groups
Enjoy some fresh air with friends
We currently run two walking groups – The Lakes and a weekend walkers.
Get out in the fresh air with some good company!

Artful Mind Exhibition
Are you an Artist?
The Artful Mind Exhibition is the first of it’s kind in New Zealand and it made it’s debut in 2024
Artists are matched with clients on the dementia journey to either collaborate with or interpret the story of the person living with dementia in artform.
The Artful Mind Exhibition is held in September for World Alzheimers Month.
