A virtual coffee with the Dementia Learning Centre: What’s coming up
Discover what's brewing in dementia workforce development
The Alzheimers NZ Dementia Learning Centre (DLC) is running a series of free, online information sessions so you can find out more about what’s coming up.
The sessions are for local service managers, training leads, and anyone responsible for workforce development in aged care or home-based support services.
It will showcase the latest innovations from the DLC and will cover:
- Session 1: Practice Leadership Programme: Growing Leaders from the Ground Up
Practice Leadership is an approach to learning that supports teams to develop capability to question, challenge, and change practice in positive ways. A modern day approach to Train the Trainer, come and learn about this community of practice we are building.
- Session 2: CarePlay™ — Learning by Doing
What if your team could practise dementia communication skills without a classroom, a trainer, or a day off the floor?
- Session 3: Dementia eLearning for Our Migrant Workforce
Seventy-one percent of aged residential care workers in Aotearoa New Zealand are internationally qualified or migrant staff. They do extraordinary work but they face unique challenges navigating cultural expectations, professional boundaries, and emotional wellbeing.
- Session 4: Practice Leadership Programme: Growing Leaders from the Ground Up
While each session will focus on a particular programme, people are encouraged to come along and find out about any of the programmes the DLC offers.
“We have some exciting opportunities to further educate and develop your teams to ensure people living with dementia get the best possible care available,” says Director Caroline Bartle.
“Please join us to learn more about what we’re doing and how we can support you. Bring your own cuppa and I look forward to catching up.”
