The Bredesen Programme: Our advice
Dementia has a significant impact on individuals and families, and we welcome all efforts to treat, manage and minimise the impact of this condition.
Dementia is a complex condition and it seems likely that a multifaceted approach will be the most helpful way of preventing and treating dementia illnesses
The Bredesen programme is a multifaceted treatment option that is commercially available here in New Zealand and internationally.
There are a number of elements of the programme that are recognised and widely recommended as good for brain health, including regular exercise, a good diet, and good sleep patterns. Anyone can use these strategies for free every day to support good health.
However, the programme also advocates other strategies for which there is currently no solid medical or scientific evidence, and the programme as a whole has not been scientifically validated.
Therefore, we advise you to be cautious if you are considering using the Bredesen programme. Further, we would suggest you wait until the programme has been scientifically validated.
