In this episode, we’re joined by Annabel Grant, a Speech Language Therapist working at Massey University to chat about a few simple strategies to help a person living with dementia mate wareware when they are lost for words.

About Annabel

Annabel Grant is a speech and language therapist with specialist knowledge in adult language disorders, especially those associated with dementia mate wareware. She teaches acquired neurogenic communication disorders at the Massey University, and supervises undergraduate speech and language therapy students developing their clinical competencies.  She is the expert advisor in dementia mate wareware for the New Zealand Speech Language Therapist’s Association.

Her PhD research aims to explore how people with dementia and their friends and whānau experience their social citizenship and whanaungatanga, and consider how the values, perspectives, and experiences can inform understanding of rehabilitation needs for maintaining social connections and friendships.
