Day Programmes Post Cover Image

We run day programmes in Hawera and New Plymouth for folk with dementia (funded by Te Whatu Ora, Health NZ.) The programme is designed to provide cognitive stimulation known to have therapeutic benefits, enhancing self-esteem and wellbeing. Morning tea and lunch are provided and there are a range of activities including exercising to music, singing, indoor bowls, cards and quizzes. Physical exercises are used to build strength and reduce falls risk. We regularly invite people from the community to come in and show their hobbies and crafts or demonstrate their dancing and musical skills. Members can join in with the activities that interest them as and when they please. Wanting them to feel comfortable and enjoy themselves, we personalise the club days as much as possible and good times are had by all. And while their loved one is enjoying their day at the club, carers can have a day to themselves.
