Services provided by Alzheimers Gisborne/Tairāwhiti include:
The Sherwood Club
The Sherwood Club – A day facility providing a social setting and cognitive stimulation activities for people with dementia. The staff, supported by our volunteers, provide a variety of interactive games, discussions and activities interspersed with visiting entertainers to make each day varied and interesting.
A 2-course hot lunch is serviced at a cost of $10.00 per day.
Members of the Sherwood Club need to meet a certain criteria in order to be eligible to attend.
Open: Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9am to 3.00pm
The Carer Support Group
Meets once a month to provide support, education, information and sharing of experiences amongst the group.
The group is hosted by volunteer, Janet Willson.

Volunteer with us!
Volunteers Needed
We are seeking volunteers to work alongside us in our day facility for people with dementia.
Jobs range from food preparation and dishes to gardening and engaging with the clients in brain stimulation activities such as art and craft, puzzles, and board games or participating in games like ‘hangman’ or bingo.
You can choose from 1 to 3 days a week, full days or half with hours to suit between 9.30am to 3.00pm.
All volunteers undergo an orientation process.
A police check is mandatory
Knowledge of working with people with dementia is an advantage but training is given.
Working within a team and the ability to have fun are essential skills.
