Safer Walking (WandaTrak)

In partnership with the local Search and Rescue Team, Alzheimers Nelson Tasman manages the WanderSearch (WandaTrak) system. The pendant is a radio frequency transmitter that the client wears, these pendants are a valuable part of our service; they offer peace of mind to the carer knowing that if their family member wanders they will be located much faster.

Support Groups for Care Partners/Whanau

Caring for someone living with dementia can come with its challenges.

Our Carer Support Groups provide a safe space to share your experiences, gain support and confidence.

Our Carers that attend Support Groups find the groups help them feel less isolated, provide emotional and practical support, and are often a welcome break from the caring role.

A great opportunity to make new friends, share experiences and be honest, without fear or embarrassment or judgment.

All our Groups are facilitated by skilled, compassionate, experienced staff.

If you would like to come to a Group please contact a Dementia Advisor who will be able to provide you with the group details and discuss with you which group would best meet your needs.

Our Groups run in:

Stoke area – 1st Wednesday of the month – Sue Cochrane

Nelson area – 1st Thursday of the month – Sue Cochrane

Tahunanui area – 2nd Tuesday of the month – Sue Cochrane

Richmond area – 1st Tuesday of the month – Heather Lackner

Motueka area – 3rd Wednesday of the month – Heather Lackner.
