Carer and Family/Whanau Support
Helping families cope with the challenges presented by dementia
The well being of our clients is highly important to us, by making sure their primary carer is well supported this can be achieved by providing:
- One to one support over the phone and in person, offering expertise, practical knowledge and support
- Support groups for carers sharing experiences and helping people to know they are not alone
- Referrals to other agencies for support as a persons needs change.
- Educational support programs ensuring carers have the education required to help them navigate the many changes that come with supporting a person with dementia.
- Total Mobility Community transport discounts and financial supports.
- Devices for keeping people safe in the community for those who may require additional support to get home safely.
- Advocacy
- Social groups and events

For those living with Dementia
There are a number of programs and social opportunities available for those living with Dementia including;
- Social Support Groups
- Social Events
- Minds in Motion Meaningful activity program (based on the principals of Cognitive stimulation therapy)
- Dementia-specific exercise groups focussed on strength and balance
- Connecting people with other appropriate community support programs:
