Making a difference 1
This manual is for people who want to make a difference to the quality of life of the people with dementia they are working with. It describes a specific programme of group activity and stimulation, grounded firmly in the values of person-centred care and suitable for use with many people with dementia.
Making a difference 2
This second cognitive stimulation (CST) manual offers a further 24 carefully researched group sessions for use in all care settings. The manual includes a link to online resources showing filmed examples of sessions with leaders and people with dementia. These will be of particular benefit to those who are new to this approach.
Making a difference 3
This third cognitive stimulation therapy (CST) manual is for carers who want to make a difference to the quality of life of the people with dementia they know or who they are living or working with. It builds on the proven success and popularity of CST by offering 75 individual sessions on a great variety of topics to suit everybody’s tastes and interests. The manual includes details of a link to the Hawker website which has filmed examples of sessions which will show how all those taking part can get the best from their shared experience.
Resources to support Vital CST (vCST)
Interim guidelines have been developed to support facilitators who wish to offer virtual Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (vCST) by the UCL International Team members. The pre-existing guidelines and key-principles of in-person group CST should be applied for vCST. These interim guidelines should therefore be interpreted in conjunction with the CST ‘Making a Difference’ manual (Spector, Woods, Stoner & Orrell, 2020).
