CST is an evidence-based group treatment for people with mild to moderate dementia mate wareware. It improves participant’s cognition and quality of life. CST can be delivered relatively easily in both community and residential care settings by anyone working with people with dementia eg occupational therapists, psychologists, social workers, diversional therapists or nurses.

This workshop is aimed for health professionals currently working with people with dementia. Attending CST training teaches people to apply the key principles during CST and encourage its use in standardised, person concentred and effective way.

Training in this workshop is interactive, involving group discussions, video observation, techniques demonstration, role-play and didactic teaching.

Meet the trainers

Dr Kathy Peri and Dr Gary Cheung are recognised CST Master Trainers in Aotearoa New Zealand and will facilitate the one-day workshop.

Dr Kathy Peri is a senior lecturer at the School of Nursing, the University of Auckland. Dr Gary Cheung is an old age psychiatrist at Te Whatu Ora and has an academic position at the University of Auckland.

Cost of workshop $200 – morning and afternoon tea will be provided. Please bring your own lunch.
